The Wellington (2017) International Oboe Summer School will be held from 3 - 8 January 2017*. It will feature seven outstanding oboists: Jacques Tys, Principal oboe of the Paris Opera Orchestra and Professor at the Paris Conservatoire, Gordon Hunt has for many years been the pre-eminent oboist in the United Kingdom and Diana Doherty (Australia) are the featured artists. Additionally, Robert Orr who has been Principal Oboe with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for a number of years, Thomas Hutchinson (Associate Principal oboe Symphony), Alexandre Oguey, our cor anglais specialist from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Eve Newsome (professor of oboe at the Queensland Conservatorium) will also be attending as our associate artists .The Summer School will be based in Wellington,at the New Zealand School of Music, Victoria University of Wellington, 15 minute's walk from Te Papa (the National Museum of New Zealand) and 10 minutes walk from downtown Wellington. Wellington can be reached by direct international flights from Australia.
